Orbital Weld Training

Orbital weld training

Orbital Weld Training — 5-Day Course

If you’re designing a critical fluid system, you’re likely considering welding for assembly. With the Swagelok® M200 welding system, it’s easy to make precise, consistent, quality welds. While automatic orbital welding can help you overcome issues related to widespread welder shortages, proper orbital welding training is essential to equip your emerging welders for success. Make the most of what modern orbital welding offers with our local 5-day orbital welding training course.

Who Should Take This Course?

Welders or weld operators, supervisors of orbital welding operations, and engineers who design systems that include orbital welding.

Course Objectives:

This training program is designed to help you:

• Understand basic metallurgy and industry standards and specifications for welding
• Set up and operate orbital welding equipment
• Learn how to select, use and care for tungsten electrode
• Learn how proper gas selection and purging techniques affect the quality of a weld
• Practice troubleshooting common issues and learn preventive maintenance procedures that will protect your equipment investment
• Practice orbital weld procedures on applications with up to 4 in. diameter tubing
• Develop a weld procedure and adjust the variables of the GTAW process to impact the quality of a weld
• Optionally test for ASME Section IX qualification if you need to fulfill QA/QC requirements

Course Length

In-person — 5 days

ASME Qualifications

An optional 5th day at the end of the course is available if you wish to learn more about welding under ASME Section IX; the facility consumables and equipment necessary to obtain your qualification will be provided. Final weld samples can then be submitted to ASME for review.
